A specialty of Gascony, foie gras is one of the world's great gastronomic delicacies. These fully cooked foies gras from Rougie, France's leading foie gras producer, have a wonderfully rich flavor and silky smooth texture, and contain the finest liver, seasonings, and port wine. Foie gras should be served chilled. Enjoy it on toasted bread with a glass of Sauternes, or on a baguette with a glass of California red.

1terible  Dec 14, 2008
Foie gras is produced by cruel and inhumane farming practices. At just a few months old, ducks are confined inside dark sheds and force-fed enormous amounts of food several times a day. A farm worker grabs each duck and, one by one, thrusts a metal pipe down their throats so that a mixture of corn can be forced directly into their gullets. In just a matter of weeks, the ducks become grossly overweight and their livers expand up to 10 times their normal size.

5Ugh  Jun 29, 2008
For the record: I'm not a fan of foie gras.

However, I did not by this for myself. This was bought for my mother as a birthday / mothers day gift.

Product shipped very quickly, my mom was very happy with it. As a coincidence, my mother was born near where this was produced and actually has toured the place.

3okay - good for during the year  Jun 17, 2008
Creamy, smooth, truffles are okay but a lower grade than I expected. I'd recommend it for parties or treats during the year, but not as the lead for xmas - keep looking for that special foie gras for xmas!

5Melts in your mouth.....AMAZING!  Jun 03, 2008
I first bought this product in Duty Free when I was transiting through Paris on my way to somehwere without any food luxuries whatsoever. This foie gras is simply amazing, there is no other way to state this! The price here is a very good deal as well. With or without truffles, this is a taste sensation for the palate.
