Five-minute artisan bread bakers, you need to GET THIS!!! Jun 18, 2009 I purchased the great book, Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg MD and Zoe Francois, and all the recipes call for a tablespoon and a half of several of the ingredients--a mix of two or three different measuring spoons, depending on whether or not one has a half-tablespoon one. I didn't. So I got out hunting for the perfect measuring spoon that would measure out exactly 1.5 tablespoons.
This is IT! Not only is the measurement perfect for the bread recipes, I can use the clip to clip the flour bag closed. Too, we have a Keurig coffeemaker with the My K Cup filters, and we can use this scoop to scoop out the perfect amount of coffee for a robust cup. The measuring spoon is of a perfect diameter to spoon the coffee right into the filter without spilling out over the sides and making a mess (as happens with our other coffee scoop)--just put the filter on top of the scoop and invert. (For an even more perfect cup, the bottom of the scoop can be used to tamp the grounds down before brewing.)
I can clip the scoop to the coffee bag and keep it all tidy beside the coffeemaker or in the fridge or freezer. (I think it would be prudent to let it defrost a bit before working the clip, though, if frozen.)
RSVP's scoop is heavy stainless steel with what looks like a very solidly made clipping mechanism with a strong spring, so I expect it will last as close to forever as anything will. I could not be happier with this purchase. I wish I had bought at least two--for me--or more--for gifts. The price is definitely right for a gadget of this quality and utility.
