Disappointing... Apr 07, 2009
By CyberDad Mrs. CyberDad writes:
This set of knives was delivered promptly, well wrapped, excellent service. However, the product itself is disappointing. If this is the top quality for this brand, this brand does not have much in the way of standards.
To begin with, a piece of wood fell out of the presentation box when I opened it, so the knife rack in the box was instantly unusable. When I tried to re-close the box, it would not close--something had been forced in the hinges to close it originally, apparently.
The knives are visually nice-looking, with a double-serrated edge (good for lefties), an ornamented spine and a lovely color on the handles. However, when you pick them up, the handles do not feel well-finished. One knife in the set has a handle that seems rough and scratched, and is actually very uncomfortable to use.
When the knives first arrived, I hand-washed them gently and dried them before putting them in the family knife block. Now, just three days later, little rust spots have formed under each of the "bees" on the knife handles.
Somehow, I don't think these knives are worth the asking price...
